Swimmers Excel at Club Championships

Congratulations to all our 40 swimmers who competed at the club championships on 13th and 20th November at Bletchley Leisure Centre and Aqua Vale Aylesbury! The joint championships with Bletchley & District SC were very successful, and we hope to repeat the format next year. A large crowd of parents and friends saw swimmers convert months of hard work in training into 136 personal best times and 43 new club age records. Results can be found on the club notice board, or follow the link.

Certificates of achievement were presented to all competitors at the end of the gala by Neil. Notable individual successes were achieved by Matthew Eddy (12) who swept the board in the boys 11/12 years age group, winning 11 medals, Sinead Vine-Nealon (10) with 10 medals, Sam Jordan (17) with 8, Ella Johnson (15) and James Eddy (10) with 7, and Matthew London (14) with 6; Emily Jones (14) became the first girl club member to break 30 seconds in the 50m freestyle race, winning in a time of 29.93 sec. Jamie Harvey, Tessa Gamage, Gemma Gibbs, and Emily and Charlotte Rumsey all swam in their first gala, and acquitted themselves very well. 39 county qualification times were also achieved, giving those swimmers a boost leading up to the final January qualification meets at Watford and Aylesbury, prior to the County ASA championships in March 2011.

After the championships, Louisa Taylor and Sam Jordan were appointed club captains for 2011, and Ruth Bridgman and Matthew Eddy received “Swimmer of the Year” awards.
